We are a contemporary urban church in Hartford, CT.

 

We exist to call people into a deeper relationship with a God who loves us all without condition.

We are committed to asking questions and forming a Spirit-empowered community of healing for all people as we work to make the earth more like heaven.

 

We affirm the full participation of LGBTQ+ people in the life of the church.

 

We believe that the Gospel is both an invitation to individuals to encounter Jesus as well as a corporate call to pursue justice in the world. Part of the pursuit of justice includes becoming an explicitly anti-racist church while becoming co-conspirators for good in our world.

Riverfront Family Church was launched in 2008 under the leadership and vision of Rev. Nancy Butler, along with a small core team. Nancy founded RFC to combine the best of liberal and conservative churches.  From the liberal tradition, she incorporated inclusivity and intellectual honesty. From the evangelical tradition, she incorporated whole-hearted commitment to Jesus, personal devotions, and passionate worship. Nancy was diagnosed with ALS in February 2014 and passed away December 7, 2016. You can read her obituary here.
